Legal Affairs Junior Manager/Manager Vacancy

The European Crop Protection Association (ECPA) is the pan-European voice of the pesticide industry. This Brussels based association, representing 22 market-leading companies as well as national associations in 32 countries, is looking for a dynamic, self-starting, solution-oriented Legal Affairs Junior Manager/ Manager.
The Legal Affairs Junior Manager/ Manager will provide legal support to ECPA teams and secretariat, manage related expert groups and represent ECPA in relevant fora, contributing to an innovation-friendly legal environment in Europe and to the implementation of related strategies on legislative issues impacting our industry. He/she will also advise the regulatory team on specific legal topics, as well as support the Association on compliance issues. Responsibilities


Reporting to the Director General, the Legal Affairs Junior Manager/ Manager will:

  • Work closely as the Association lawyer with the legal affairs team and chair
  • Draft legal opinions and provide legal advice and assessments
  • Draft ECPA position papers, strategies and other related documents on relevant legal topics
  • Monitor and analyse the impact of relevant legislation and court cases
  • Develop and drive the Association’s policy approach with regards to legal and IP related policy issues
  • Advise on specific legal regulatory issues alongside the Director of Regulatory Affairs and the regulatory team
  • Act as the interface between the ECPA regulatory and public affairs teams towards the legal affairs team
  • Support the Director General and the Director of Corporate Operations on compliance issues
  • Organize and lead the work of relevant ECPA expert groups
  • Build networks with EU institutions and EU trade associations on legal issues
  • Represent ECPA externally


Qualifications


The successful candidate should have:

  • University degree (law)
  • 2- 5 years’ experience in legal and/or regulatory affairs in a law firm, EU agri-food/chemical association, in agri-food/chemical industry and/or in EU institutions/national authorities
  • Sound knowledge of the EU legislation impacting on the crop protection industry, or experience in EU environmental/chemical legislation is a big advantage
  • Ability to work autonomously and proactively, and to accept responsibilities
  • Good analytical skills and ability to synthesize information
  • Ability to facilitate consensus among members
  • Dynamic, open-minded, hard worker, organised, team player
  • Good presentation and communication skills
  • The working language of the association is English. An additional European language would be an advantage
